FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Shared Care is a collaborative model of antenatal care that allows you to share your pregnancy journey between your trusted GP at Horizon Medical Centre Stepney and your chosen birthing hospital or obstetric team. This approach offers the comfort and convenience of receiving much of your pregnancy care locally, while still being supported by hospital-based maternity services for key appointments and delivery.
Our experienced women’s health GP Dr Vinita Bhat, plays a central role in monitoring your health, providing regular check-ups, coordinating necessary tests and ultrasounds, and offering guidance tailored to your individual needs. By building on the established relationship you have with your GP, Shared Care ensures continuity of care, open communication, and a more personalised pregnancy experience.
Shared Care is ideal for women with low-risk pregnancies who value consistency, flexibility, and a patient-centred approach. It also makes it easier to discuss your wider health needs—physical and emotional—within a familiar setting. Should any complications arise, Dr Vinita Bhat will liaise directly with your hospital team to ensure your care remains seamless and well-coordinated.
At Horizon Medical Centre Stepney, our Shared Care service reflects our commitment to integrative, supportive, and family-focused healthcare—helping you feel confident and cared for every step of the way.
